I like your comment, "the AD may not apply but the physics do". We had our IO-360 crankshaft counterbalanced during overhaul to avoid placarded limits with out MTV-12 prop. We flew the combination before and after the counterbalance and could tell no difference from the cockpit. BUT, many e-mails with the owner of MT enlightened us about the several orders and magnitudes of vibration in 4 cylinder engines with various props. I think of it now in the same terms as control surface flutter: learn the limits and follow them strictly. To paraphrase your comment: "You cannot fool the gods of physics".
