John,
What engine are you planning on using? I have a SDII with a 220 Cont. radial. The gear attach position is in the original plans location but the gear was extended 5" longer and just allowed to run out (moved the axles further forward and outward). This was mainly necessary for turning the bigger prop (originally 101" but now with a 98")The tailwheel weight is just under 80lbs. and the CG is around 21" I think, I can verify this for you. The lower longerons and gear attach areas are beefed up along with the gear itself. The plane handles great on the ground in both 3 point and wheel landings. Good luck with your project.
Charlie.
