Yes, the capstrips are slotted. There are probably many ways to do it. What I did was get a Dremel router table and a .065 router bit for the Dremel that mounts under the table. Set the height of the bit above the table to get the desired depth of cut into the capstrip. And set the fences on the table to get the slot centered. I can't remember if the .065 bit provided the correct width of the slot. So you may need a different sized bit. Or, if the bit provides a slot that is too thin, you can always route the capstrip twice. Once with each side of the capstrip against the table fences to provide a wider slot.
