I have an SA100 that has a number of fairings that were formed by the builder, not with female molds, but by layups made over modeling clay which formed the fairing to the contours in place on the airplane. The primary use was to fair in the cabane to fuselage, the gear attach to the fuselage, and the horizontal stab to fuselage. It's a fairly simple process, seems as easy as laying up material in a female mold, and you can be certain of the fit to your airplane when done.
