Comments and History:  Started in winter of 94-95 with wings. Working on fuselage now and learning more from the great bunch of Duster people all the time! Hope to have done by the time my son is in his early teens so we can go to all the fly-in breakfasts (he is five now!). The elephant is getting smaller.

Comments and History:  This aircraft found in an aircraft junk yard near Smyrna, Md in 1998. Had previously been owned in Texas but had had a landing accident. Aircraft was minus undercarriage, without lower skins, engine had been removed, wings, tail etc. Everything had been stored quite nicely. Aircraft was put back together over winter/summer of 1998/9 and then test flown at Hyde Executive Field, Md., in April of 1999. Has now flown about 50 hours and is currently based at Freeway Airport, Md following removal (via low loader) after Hyde operations were severely restricted following 9/11. Aircraft has been retrofitted with a radio (King) and a tansponder (also King) to comply with new Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) requirements around the Washington area.

Comments and History:  Standard Starduster construction, but fiberglass (with foam fillers) was used instead of the usual fabric covering. The combination of a radial engine (with NACA cowling)and fiberglass exterior makes this a very unique and rugged looking Starduster. This Starduster was featured in the Feb. 1989 issue (PP 52-57) of "SPORT PILOT, HOT KITS & HOMEBUILTS" Magazine (copies available from EAA Aviation Library)

Comments and History:  Was a basket case that I got in Jan 2001. Someone tried to make the Bi-plane version of it & gave up. I bought both sets of plans and found too many differences to make that conversion feasable. The wing leading edges were laid up from foam & fibreglass. It was delaminating from the spars, so I tore it all off and basicly rebuilt the wings. The landing gear was another mess. Someone took a big old cessna gear leg & cut it in half to make gear legs. The problem was the centerline of the axles was 9" too far back. Also they had added alot of reinforcing to absorb the shock.Ieliminated about 80# by removing all that and went to the stock legs.Another boo-boo was they put the top of the cabane struts togther and tried to elimnate the center section. Needless to say it was a disaster.

Comments and History:  Plan Serial #2576 3/12/2004 - The most extensive part of this project is beginning. Cleaning out, painting the inside, and dust sealing the garage. We know we have a termite problem in the house at the moment; so terminating the termites is a definite priority for a fabric and wood airplane. But we're in California so I guess with Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor “Terminating” them seems appropriate. Hanger space is unavailable at Buchanan field so the 3-car garage will have to do the heavy lifting until a hanger becomes available. We've started the work on creating a cross-reference Excel Spread sheet of all parts and materials to make parts acquisition and listing easier. The plan is to start working on the wings and tail, as they seem the simplest parts to start on.
